On Friday, February 25, the University of Maryland will celebrate the grand opening of its Olympus Discovery Center, located in A. James Clark Hall. This event is hosted by the Fischell Department of Bioengineering (BIOE) and the Department of Laboratory Animal Resources (DLAR).

This celebration will take place in person, with an option for virtual attendance during the welcome and seminar portions of the event. In-person attendees are invited and encouraged to arrive by 8:30 a.m. for light refreshments and networking.

This event will kick off with light refreshments and networking at 8:30 a.m., followed by remarks from University of Maryland and Olympus guest speakers. Afterwards, the Fischell Department of Bioengineering will host its weekly seminar, featuring Dr. Andrew Tsourkas of the University of Pennsylvania.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., in-person attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a short tour of the UMD Olympus Discovery Center located on the 4th and 6th floors of A. James Clark Hall. Please note, the facilities are accessible via elevators.

A. James Clark Hall is located at 8278 Paint Branch Drive in College Park, MD. Visitor parking information is available online. The nearest visitor parking lot is the Xfinity Visitor lot.

Those who wish to attend this event and who do not receive BIOE's weekly seminar emails should register online to receive Zoom login information. All BIOE students, staff, faculty, and seminar email subscribers will receive this information automatically and do not need to register.

All campus visitors are expected to abide by the UMD campus health and safety guidelines. These guidelines currently include wearing a mask or face covering for the duration of this event. Given the expected occupancy of this event, attendees are asked to wear a KN95 or N95 mask.
