Evening@SMART: Unmanned Underwater Vehicles Join the University of Maryland MATRIX Lab's next Evening@SMART presentation. Evening@SMART is a series of presentations and discussions related to autonomous systems and artificial intelligence that highlight research, breakthroughs, cutting-edge tech, and unique perspectives. September 2, 2026: Cecilia Huertas Cerdeira "Bio-inspired technologies for unmanned underwater vehicles" Dr. Cecilia Huertas Cerdeira Millions of years of evolution have equipped biological swimmers with extraordinarily capable locomotion and sensing tools for the underwater environment. Inspired by Nature, our team aims to leverage the underlying principles to develop new technologies that can improve the efficiency and agility of unmanned underwater vehicles. In this talk, two such technologies will be discussed.
