Professor Eric Wachsman, Director of UMD Energy Research Center (UMERC) and Maryland Energy Innovation Institute (MEI2) has been named the 2017 recipient of the Carl Wagner Memorial Award by the Electrochemical Society (ECS). The Carl Wagner award was established in 1980 to recognize excellence in research areas of interest of the Society, and significant contributions in the teaching or guidance of students or colleagues in education, industry, or government. Formal recognition of this honor will take place during the plenary session of the 232nd ECS Meeting in National Harbor, MD in October. In addition, the society will hold a private awards dinner to honor Dr. Wachsman on the evening of Monday, October 2. The award carries with it a silver medal, plaque and lifetime membership in the Society.
