The 2019 Kirwin Faculty Research & Scholarship Prize to Professor Yuhuang Wang. This award recognizes a University of Maryland faculty member for a highly significant work of research, scholarship, or artistic endeavor in the recent past. Yuhuang was singled out for his breakthrough research on the development of meta materials that respond dynamically to temperature and humidity. The Prize will be formally presented to Yuhuang at the University's convocation in September.

Yuhuang is the second faculty member from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry to receive the Kirwin Research & Scholarship Prize. Millard Alexander received the inaugural Prize in 1999.
