The 1st Annual Fischell Festival, to take place on May 3, will highlight opportunities for engineers to improve life for millions of people.

Hosted by the Fischell Department of Bioengineering, the day?s events include talks by guest speakers, a telesurgery demonstration, lab tours, a poster session and a career information fair.

Guest speakers include:

  • Shu Chien, president, Bio-Medical Engineering Society; professor (and former chair), the Department of Bioengineering, University of California at San Diego (UCSD); former director, Whitaker Institute for Biomedical Engineering, UCSD
  • Robert E. Fischell, medical device inventor and entrepreneur
  • Art Collins*, chairman and CEO of Medtronic
