The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) extends its congratulations to graduate students Jane Cornett and Nitinun Varongchayakul, winners of its 2013 Graduate Research Awards. They will go on to represent MSE and compete against the winners from the Clark School's other seven departments in this year's forthcoming Dean's M.S. and Doctoral Research Award competitions.

Cornett, advised by MSE assistant professor Oded Rabin, received the doctoral thesis award for her dissertation, "Thermoelectric Transport Phenomena in Semiconducting Nanostructures," while Varongchayakul, advised by MSE assistant professor Joonil Seog, won the M.S. thesis award for her work, "Stretching silk-elastin-like peptide polymers induces nucleation of amyloid nanofibers: Mechanistic study using time-lapse lateral force microscopy."

"I want to congratulate Jane, Nitinun and all of the other nominees on their excellent research," says MSE professor and chair Robert M. Briber. "I truly believe that our department has the most exciting and dynamic research projects in the Clark School and on campus."

Cornett and Varongchayakul will present their work to a select committee from the Clark School's Board of Visitors when they participate in the Dean's M.S. and Doctoral Research Award competitions on Sunday, April 28th.
